Bozon Update

SASKATOON, SK – Kootenay Ice player Tim Bozon is making remarkable strides as he recovers from meningitis, which sent him to hospital four weeks ago tomorrow. Bozon, who was in a medically induced coma for most of those four weeks, walked into a news conference today to thank everyone.
“From what I have learned since coming out of the coma, the people here at the Royal University Hospital went to amazing lengths to save my life. To them, first and foremost, my heartfelt thanks. But I must also extend gratitude to everyone who sent me their thoughts and prayers, especially my parents, who rushed here from France to be by my side,” commented Tim.
Tim’s father, Philippe, also expressed his thanks to the medical staff and all the people who signed cards, emailed wishes and donated money. “This has been unbelievable. It’s terrible to have to see your son go through this but the outpouring of support and quality of care at the hospital has been amazing.“
Tim's neurologist, Dr. Gary Hunter, acknowledged Tim has recuperated incredibly well but cautioned there may be months of rehabilitation still ahead. “We are optimistic he will make a full recovery but it will take some time before that possibility could be realized.”
Tim is working on regaining strength and improving coordination. He will have more rehabilitation after he has been discharged from hospital and the medical costs are already far exceeding the insurance coverage. People are encouraged to make contributions to the Tim Bozon Trust Fund at any Bank of Montreal in Western Canada or through the Western Hockey League Office in Calgary.
Tim is being discharged from Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon today and is planning to travel to Cranbrook, B.C., to be with his Kootenay teammates at their next playoff game against the Calgary Hitmen Saturday night. At the game, Tim Bozon is scheduled to return to the ice to drop the puck in a ceremonial face-off.

CALGARY, AB – The Western Hockey League’s Hockey Operations department issued the following statement regarding the goal awarded to the Kootenay Ice at the end of the second period during their game against the Calgary Hitmen.
“The video evidence in the Video Goal Judge booth clearly showed the puck had crossed the line with 0.1 seconds remaining on the clock. The Video Goal Judge booth is considered the official time clock when reviewing goals and is the same system utilized by the NHL.”

Bozon Recieves Visit From Raiders

Prince Albert SK- Prince Albert Raiders Business Manager Bruce Vance made a special visit to Kootenay Ice forward Tim Bozon and his family on Friday morning at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon.
Vance delivered a “get well” poster signed by Raider fans at their home game on March 14th, as well as a cheque for $1715, money that was raised at the team’s watch party in the Ches Leach Lounge on Tuesday. The finances will go towards the Tim Bozon Trust Fund, established by the WHL to help pay for the medical expenses required for his treatment and recovery.

Bozon Improving
(March 19, 2014) Saskatoon – Saskatoon Health Region is providing a new update on the condition of Kootenay Ice hockey player and Montreal Canadiens prospect Tim Bozon, at the request of his family.
Last week Tim Bozon’s condition was changed to critical but stable and improving. Over the weekend his condition continued to improve and he was moved out of the intensive care unit (ICU) and into one of the hospital wards. His physicians have listed his condition as stable. His parents say Tim is awake, moving around in his bed, trying to feed himself and trying to speak. They add they are very appreciative of the care he received while in the ICU.
Since arriving in Saskatoon, the family has received a lot of support from the hockey community, friends and even strangers. Anonymous gifts from restaurant vouchers, fruit baskets to a box containing blankets and other bedding has been brought to the hospital. The Bozons are once again asking the media to share their thanks for these gifts.
While his condition continues to improve, Tim Bozon faces a long recovery. The Western Hockey League (WHL) has established a trust fund to assist Kootenay Ice player Tim Bozon and his family with medical and rehabilitation costs. The public can make donations at any BMO Bank of Montreal branch in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Anyone from outside Western Canada who would like to contribute to the Tim Bozon Trust can send the donation to the Tim Bozon Trust c/o Western Hockey League, 2424 University Drive NW, Calgary AB, T2N 3Y9.
The family appreciates the media’s interest in Tim and in educating the community about meningitis. They do not wish to provide any interviews at this time and will coordinate updates to media, when appropriate, through Saskatoon Health Region Communications.
