Medicine Hat, Alb – Kootenay ICE Captain Drew Czerwonka scored the winning goal late in the third period in a 3-2 win over the Medicine Hat Tigers in WHL action on Saturday night.
After a scoreless first period the ICE got the first goal of the game with a John Neibrandt shot from the blue line that went through the goalies legs.
Emerson Etem tied the game on a 3-on-2 break.
Brock Montgomery made it 2-1 with a long slap shot from the blueline that beat the unscreened goalie.
Nine seconds later the Tigers tied the game as Trevor Cox got a rebound goal on a 2-on-1 break.
With the clubs skating 4-on-4 the ICE took a 3-2 lead on a odd-man rush with Drew Czerwonka scoring on one time shot off a pass from Luke Paulsen.
The win ends the ICE losing streak at 4 games.
Jaedon Descheneau had 2 assists for his first multi-point game of his career.
Jesse Ismond extended his point streak to 3 games.
Drew Czerwonka played his 200th career regular season game with the ICE and is the 25th player to reach that milestone with Kootenay.
The ICE will host Red Deer on Tuesday.
