Cranbrook, BC – The Kootenay ICE have clinched a playoff spot for a 15th consecutive season with 3-1 win over the Lethbridge Hurricanes in WHL action on Tuesday.
The Hurricanes (26-33-3-7) scored early in the first period on rebound goal by Tyler Wong.
The ICE (34-33-2-0) tied the game on the rush with Jaedon Descheneau scoring with a wrist shot on the stick side.
In the second period the ICE took a 2-1 lead as Brock Montgomery put in his own rebound.
Hudson Elynuik earned an assist on the goal for his 1st WHL point in his 1st career game
Midway through the period the ICE made it 3-1 on a powerplay rebound goal by Sam Reinhart.
The Hurricanes will miss the playoffs for the 4th straight season.
Jaedon Descheneau (6 games), Brock Montgomery (5 games) and Sam Reinhart (5 games) extended their point streaks.
The ICE will visit Lethbridge on Wednesday.
ICE forward Hudson Elynuik, who was a 3rd round pick in 2012 Bantam Draft, played in his 1st WHL game.
