The Kootenay Ice and the local chapter of Believe have partnered up for a special
night on Saturday November 23rd at the Kootenay Ice game. First off Believe is a
organization that raises funds for childhood cancer research.
It the was the wish of Jaycee Uphill before she passed away due to cancer that this
program get launched in Cranbrook. Her family is carrying it on in her memory.
On the 23rd as the Ice battle the Wheat Kings the Kootenay Ice will play part of the
game with their sticks wrapped in gold. Later in the game those same sticks for
every player will be Auctioned off during the game and all money raised will go to
Believe to help find a cure for this awful disease. The reason for Gold. Well gold
is the official colour of the childhood cancer much like Pink is the official colour
of breast cancer. All fans are encouraged to participate that night and wear gold
clothing, or gold make up and show support. It will truly be a special night to
raise awareness, raise funds and celebrate and remember those children in our area
who are or were battling childhood cancer. There’s prizes for best dressed fan and
door prizes and much more. This will be a night to remember and to celebrate the
life of Jaycee Uphill and all other children with this disease in our area.
