Swift Current, Sask – Kootenay ICE forward Jaedon Descheneau scored 3 goals in a 5-2 win over the Swift Current Broncos in WHL action on Monday.
The ICE (29-29-2-0) opened the scoring in the first period with Levi Cable putting in his own rebound.
The ICE made it 2-0 on the powerplay with Jaedon Descheneau getting his 1st PPG of the season.
The Broncos (28-26-3-3) scored on their first shift of the second period with Adam Lowry alone in the slot for his 38th of the season.
Midway through the period Zach McPhee crashed the net to put in a loose puck over the fallen down goalie to make it 3-1.
In the third period Jaedon Descheneau scored another powerplay goal on a highlight reel play on the rush.
Broncos cut the lead to 4-2 with Adam Lowry alone near the net for his 5th goal against the ICE this season.
Jaedon Descheneau completed his 1st career hat-trick with an empty net goal.
It’s the 4th hat-trick by an ICE player this season.
With the win the ICE are at .500 for the first time this season and are now in 8th place in the Conference standings.
Sam Reinhart (6 games and 22 of the last 23 games) and Brock Montgomery (5 games) extended their point streaks.
The ICE will host Calgary on Saturday.
