From The Drive/B-104 …
A Kimberley product is going to make his W.H.L debut with the Victoria Royals in Cranbrook Wednesday night.
It's the first time the Royals have ever played Kootenay in Cranbrook and Isaac Schacher will suit up for the Royals against the team he's grown up watching.
"It's a dream come true, I've gone to so many Ice games growing up and the dream's always been to play in the W.H.L," said Schacher. "Watching them growing up and now having the opportunity to make my debut at home is pretty special."
The big blue liner was in discussions with the Penticton Vees of the B.C.H.L and also looked at the college route.
"I was flip-flopping going the Junior A, NCAA route and going to the W.H.L," said Schacher. "A few days ago Victoria came to me with the opportunity to sign; I took a couple days to think about it and sort it out with my family and decided it was the best opportunity for me, moving forward."
This season, Schacher is second on the Dynamiters in scoring and he explains what the Royals expect from him.
"They haven't spoken much about my role, it's more just coming to camp in shape next season and playing to the best of my abilities," said Schacher.
Cranbrook’s Colin Patterson will be inducted into the BC Hockey Hall of Fame later this summer.
Troy Murray, Kootenay’s 1st round pick in the 2012 Bantam Draft, will join the club for their 3-game road trip this weekend. (Sask AAA Midget Regina 36 GP 3-6-9 28pm)
ICE Scratches – Tanner Faith (9th game upper body week-to-week).
