Calgary, Alb – Kootenay ICE goalie Nathan Lieuwen made 26 saves for his 3rd shutout of the season in WHL action on Sunday night.
Lieuwen has 82 career regular season wins which ties Taylor Dakers for 1st all-time in ICE history.
The ICE (31-17-4-4) opened the scoring on a first period powerplay as Jesse Ismond fed Jagger Dirk sneaking in from the blueline and he scored with one-time shot along the ice.
In the second period the ICE made it 2-0 on the powerplay as on the rush Jaedon Descheneau scored with a wrist shot over the goalies glove hand.
It’s Descheneau’s 1st career powerplay goal.
The ICE took a 3-0 lead as Max Reinhart jumped on a loose puck behind the net and scored with a forehand wraparound before the goalie could get to the other side of the net.
Calgary changed goalies as Chris Driedger replaced Brandon Glover.
Hitmen (32-22-2-1) coach Mike Williamson received a game misconduct in the third period for throwing a water bottle on the ice.
Joey Leach scored an empty net goal from inside his blueline with a wrist shot that went over everones’ head into the net.
