Cranbrook, BC – Kootenay ICE forward Dylen McKinlay scored his 1st hat-trick in an ICE uniform in a 4-2 win over the Spokane Chiefs in WHL action on Saturday night.
In the second period the ICE (29-15-4-4) scored off a faceoff they lost at the Spokane blueline but Jesse Ismond created a 2-on-1 break and fed an open Dylan McKinlay near the crease and scored with a redirection over the goalies’ blocker.
The Chiefs (29-16-4-3) tied the game as Liam Stewart’s attempted shot was blocked and went to a wide open Mitch Holmberg who had a wide open net to score the goal.
Late in the period the ICE regained the lead with Jesse Ismond finding Dylen McKinlay in the middle slot and his one-time shot beat the goalie on the glove side.
In the 3rd period the Chiefs tied the game on the powerplay as Brendan Kichton’s point shot deflected off an ICE skate and into the net.
The ICE took a 3-2 lead as Joe Antilla stepped into a long wrist shot that the kneeling goalie had go off the top of his glove and floated behind him into the net.
Dylen McKinlay completed his hat-trick on a goal mouth scramble.
Jesse Ismond had 3 assists.

The ICE will visit Edmonton on Tuesday.
