Cranbrook, BC – The Edmonton Oil Kings scored 5 goals in the third for a come from behind 6-3 win over the Kootenay ICE, to take a 3-0 lead in the series, in WHL playoff action on Wednesday night.
The ICE opened the scoring on the rush as Joe Antilla dropped a pass at the Edmonton blueline to Elgin Pearce who skated to the middle slot and his wrist shot went of the goalies blocker into the net.
The Oil Kings tied the game on powerplay rebound goal by Curtis Lazar who has scored in all 3 games.
28 seconds later the ICE regained the lead as Sam Reinhart got his 1st career playoff goal with a wrist shot under the goalies glove.
For the second game in a row the ICE lead 2-1 after the first period.
In the second period the ICE made it 3-1 on an odd man rush with Dylan McKinlay coming down the left wing with a perfect shot that beat the goalie high on the glove side.
Early in the third period the Oil Kings, after an unsuccessful 2-on-1 break, the trailing Griffin Reinhart stepped into a slap shot the beat the goalie high on the glove side.
The Oil Kings tied the game as Keegan Lowe’s slap shot from the point beat the screened goalie high on the glove side.
The Oil Kings scored 2 goals 17 seconds apart to take their first lead of the game with Kritians Pelss and Mitchell Moroz making it 5-3.
Henrik Samuelsson added one into an empty net.
