Red Deer, Alb – Kootenay ICE forward Jaedon Descheneau scored 39 second into overtime in a come from behind 2-1 win over the Red Deer Rebels in WHL action on Friday night.
The Rebels (5-7-1-1) scored early in the 3rd period on the powerplay as ICE goalie Mackenzie Sakapski fell down behind the net and Matt Bellerive scored from the corner before the goalie got back into the net.
The goal ended Skapski’s and the ICE (4-5-0-0) shutout streak at 106:05.
The ICE tied the game late in the period as Luke Philp stole the puck off a defenseman and scored with a wrist shot on the glove.
In overtime Sam Reinhart had a partial breakaway and fell down near the net and Jaedon Descheneau grabbed the puck from behind the net and scored on a forehand wrap-around.
The ICE have now won 3 games in a row.
This was the only road game for the ICE in October who just completed a 6-game home stand and will now start another stretch of 6 straight home games.
The ICE will host Kamloops on Saturday.
