The Kootenay ICE will host the Prince Albert Raiders tonight in the first of four meetings this season.
Last year they split the 4 games, ICE 2-1-0-1, Raiders 2-1-1-0, each team won one game at home and one on the road.
The ICE haven’t played a game in 8 days.
While most teams in the WHL have played 6 or 7 games this season the ICE have played only 4.
The Raiders are coming off road wins against Edmonton (Thursday) and Calgary (Friday) and is one of 4 teams without a regulation loss this season. (Calgary, Swift Current, Kamloops).
Prince Albert has played 3 overtime games this season and they all went to the shootout where they have 2 wins and 1 loss.
The Raiders have 11 points in 6 games which is their best start since 2002-03 when they also had 11 points after 6 games.
Last year in took the Raiders 20 games to have 11 points in the standings.
The Raiders have trailed for only 6 minutes and 42 seconds all year.
With Antoine Corbin still at an AHL camp the Raiders acquired 20-year-old defenseman Davis Vandane from Spokane.
Drew Czewronka will play his 1st game of the season, Spencer Wand (injured in 1st game of season) and Luke Philp (missed 1 game) are also off the injured list.
Jon Martin will sit out game 1 of a 3 game league suspension.
