Cranbrook, BC – The Calgary Hitmen swept a home and home against the Kootenay ICE with a 6-1 win in WHL action on Tuesday night.
The loss ended the ICE home winning streak at 3 games and have now lost 6 of their last 7 games.
Calgary has won 5 straight road games and have won 11 of their last 13.
Brooks Macek led the attack with a goal and a 2 assists, Greg Chase had 2 goals and Viktor Rask and 1 goal and 2 assists.
The ICE (8-18-1-0) opened the scoring with Kyle O’Connor scoring with a wrist shot from the middle slot.
11 seconds later the Hitmen (19-6-1-2) tied the game with Pavlo Padakin alone near the crease.
Calgary took a 2-1 lead on a powerplay goal by Viktor Rask.
The Hitmen quickly made it 3-1 with Greg Chase alone in the slot for his 3rd goal against the ICE this week.
Early in the second period Carson Samoridny was alone in front of the net and scored with a wrist shot on the stick side.
The Hitmen created another turnover in the ICE zone and a quick passing play found Brooks Macek for wide open net goal.
In the third period Greg Chase scored his 2nd of the game, 4th against the ICE this week and 7th of the season.
It’s the 16th time an opposition player has scored 2 goals in a game against the ICE.
The crowd was the smallest in Franchsie history.
Earlier in the day the league named Calgary goalie Chris Driedger the WHL Goalie of the Month for November.
The ICE will host Prince Albert on Friday.
