Cranbrook, BC – Kootenay ICE forward Brock Montgomery scored 2 goals and Levi Cable scored the winner midway through the third period in a 3-2 win over the Calgary Hitmen in WHL action on Monday night.
The ICE (12-24-1-0) opened the scoring on a 2-on-1 break with Brock Montgomery coming down the right wing and scored with a shot high on the glove side.
The Hitmen (24-10-1-3) tied the game early in the second period with Zane Jones alone through the slot for a forehand deke.
In the third period the ICE made it 2-1 as Brock Montgomery got a rebound goal for his team leading 14th of the season and 6th against Calgary.
44 seconds later the Hitmen tied the game with Cody Sylvester getting his team leading 21st.
Just over 2 minutes later Levi Cable took the puck in the Calgary corner, went to the slot and scored with a shot that beat the goalie on the stick side.
Cable has scored the game winning goal in back-to-back games.
It was only Calgary's 2nd regulation road loss this season.
The ICE will host Red Deer on Wednesday.
