On the trade.
"We are in the situation here where we need some defense help. Obviously John Neibrandt is going to come back tomorrow night but the big question mark is how long Luke Paulsen is going to be out with his concussion. You need some depth and it's tough to find '93 born defenseman in our league with WHL experience. Tanner has played for 3 years and this trade really works out for both teams. They were looking for a '93 forward in Adam Rossignol and we were looking for a '93 defenseman. Hopefully it works out for both teams. Adam had a good year for us but was really looking to get more ice time and that was something were couldn't really gaurantee him with all the returning forwards we had. From our end moving forward it gives us more depth this year and more options for next season.
On Tanner Muth
"He's a defensive defenseman. You look at his numbers he's a big guy, he can play physical. I know he's excited, I talked to Tanner today and I think this is an opportunity for him to come here and play some big minutes and right of the bat. Any player that's what they want is to play more, they always want to play more and they're never satisfied and so from Tanner's end this is a great opportunity and we are looking forward to getting him int our lineup."
On more trade before the deadline.
"You're always kicking tires with everybody and right now there is a lot of teams kicking tires. The problem we face is that we don't have many bullets left in the gun after the Cody Eakin deal from last year. We're not going to touch any of our '95 players or propsects because they're a big part of our team moving forward. If we can make our team better we will do that, we always have listened. Right now there is not a lot on the table. I do have a wish list but at this time I'm not going to tell you what it is."
Will the club's weekend games have any influence on the trade deadline.
"That's a good question, that's a really good question. I'm up and down, I call myself John Kerry, I flip and I flop on what we are going to do but we have a lot of players who were a part of our WHL Championship last year and there is no substitute for winning. In my opinion we have the best goaltender in Canada in Nathan Lieuwen, we have one of the best forwards in Max Reinhart so we have some pieces of the puzzle to make another run it's just how can we tweak it to give us more depth."
