Red Deer, Alb – The Kootenay ICE beat the Red Deer Rebels 2-1 in a shootout in WHL action on Wednesday night.
The Rebels (18-18-1-4) scored late in the first period as Alex Petrovic’s attempted pass near the ICE crease was blocked and went right back to him and he scored with a shot that went underneath Nathan Lieuwen’s pad.
The ICE (25-13-1-3) tied the game midway through the second period as Jagger Dirk’s slap pass was deflected into the net by Dylen McKinlay.
The ICE won the shootout 1-0 on a goal by Max Reinhart.
The ICE will visit Edmonton on Saturday.
