Cranbrook, BC – Kootenay ICE defenseman Joey Leach scored the winning goal early in the 3rd period in a 2-1 win over the Edmonton Oil Kings in WHL action on Tuesday night.
The Oil Kings (27-9-2-3) opened the scoring in the first period with TJ Foster finding a loose puck near the net and wristed a shot off the cross bar into the net.
The ICE (16-24-1-0) tied the game late in the second period with Jadon Descheneau spinning around with a wrist shot that beat the goalie high on the stick side.
Early in the third period the ICE scored on a 2-man advantage with a slap shot from the point from Joey Leach.
The ICE have won 6 games in a row and the Oil Kings had their winning streak end at 4 games.
Joey Leach (6 games), Jaedon Descheneau (4 games), Sam Reinhart (4 games) and Erik Benoit (4 games) all extended their point streaks.
The WHL Trade Deadline is Thursday at 3pm.
