Peter Quenneville and Morgan Klimchuk each scored twice as the Brandon Wheat Kings defeated the Kootenay ICE 6-4 Saturday in Brandon.
Tim Bozon tallied a pair of goals for the ICE, who finished a stretch of five straight away games with seven of a possible ten points.
The hosts jumped out to an early 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Jayce Hawryluk and Rihards Bukarts before Bozon got Kootenay on the board at the 6:56 mark.
Russian defenseman Ivan Provorov restored Brandon's two-goal lead 1:04 later as the Wheat Kings took a 3-1 lead into the first intermission.
The two sides traded goals in period two, with Bozon scoring again for the ICE before Quenneville added a late marker for Brandon to put his side up 4-2 after 40 minutes.
Quenneville added a fifth Wheat Kings goal five minutes into the third period.
Kootenay, for a third time, cut the Brandon lead to one after markers from Rinat Valiev and Jaedon Descheneau in the final ten minutes, but the Wheat Kings added an empty-net insurance marker from Klimchuk with 33 seconds left to round out the scoring.
Jordan Papirny stopped 27 shots for Brandon to record the win.
Keelan Williams made 28 saves in relief of ICE starter Wyatt Hoflin, who stopped eight shots in as many minutes of action.
Bozon and Descheneau became the first Kootenay skaters to reach 30 goals this season. Sam Reinhart added two assists for the ICE.
