Alumni In AHL/ECHL Playoffs

Six players who have ties to the East Kootenay are competing in the Calder Cup Playoffs.

Three key members of the 2010-11 Ed Chynoweth Cup champion, Kootenay Ice are in the American Hockey League playoffs.

Captain of that championship Ice squad, Brayden McNabb is on the Manchester Monarchs and Matt Fraser is on the Providence Bruins.

Jason Jaffray is on the St. John's Ice Caps and they face the Albany Devils.

Heading to the Western Conference, the Abbotsford Heat are loaded with local connections, as the oldest Reinhart brother, Max is a key piece of the Heat.

Former Ice defenceman, Dean Arsene patrols the Abbotsford blueline and Marysville product, Carter Bancks is also on the Heat roster.

The first round of the Calder Cup Playoffs opens tonight.
Five players with local connections are in the ECHL’s Kelly Cup Playoffs.

We’ll start with two defencemen that won a 2010-11 Ed Chynoweth Cup with the Kootenay Ice.

James Martin is playing with the Alaska Aces and former Ice captain Joey Leach is playing with the Bakersfield Condors.

Cranbrook product and former Medicine Hat Tigers defenceman, Jace Coyle is on the Fort Wayne Komets.

Brad Cole is with the Greenville Road Warriors and forward, Jeremy Yablonski is on the Ontario Reign.
