ICE have traded their 1st round pick, 51st overall, in today's Import Draft to Everett for a 2012 8th round Bantam pick.
The ICE will pass on their 2nd round pick and for the 2nd year in a row the club will not make a selection in the Import Draft.
The ICE can still add an import player that has been waived by another team.
From the ICE Office
Cranbrook, BC – Jeff Chynoweth, General Manager of the Kootenay ICE Hockey Club announced today that the ICE have traded their 2011 CHL Import Draft pick to the Everett Silvertips for a 8th round pick in the 2012 WHL Bantam Draft.
“We were looking to add a forward in the 1992 or 1993 age group that could come in and compete for a top six position with our Club and unfortunately we could not make that happen. Although we have passed on selecting a player in the CHL Import Draft for a second year in a row, it does not mean we will not have an Import player in our line-up at some point in the near future.” commented Chynoweth.
