Kootenay 3 Brandon 2

Cranbrook, BC – Kootenay ICE forward Kevin King had 3 assists in a 3-2 win over the Brandon Wheat Kings in WHL action on Friday night.

ICE opened the scoring as Ian Barteaux scored on a wrist shot from the blueline that sailed over the screened goalie’s glove hand.
Wheat Kings tied it 1-1 as the ICE misplayed the puck in their zone and Scott Glennie fired a wrist shot that went in off the cross bar.
ICE regained the lead on a power-play goal from Andrew Bailey who had an open net after a receiving perfect pass from Kevin King.
ICE made it 3-1 on a 5-on-3 power-play as Brayden McNabb scored on a hard slap shot that went in high on the glove side. The ICE were on a 2-man advantage after Brandon was called for too many men twice in 47 seconds.
In the 3rd period Andrew Clark scored on a power-play wrist shot that went through the goalies’ legs.

Brayden McNabb returned after missing 5 games with a concussion.
Goalie Nathan Lieuwen is now out indefinitely with a concussion. Tyler Vanscourt (shoulder 4-6 weeks), Steele Boomer (concussion indefinite) and Dustin Sylvester (ankle season ending) were the other ICE scratches.

Before game the ICE officially signed the new 15-year lease with the City of Cranbrook. In conjunction they’ll be lowering the season tickets for next season. The prices are the lowest in team history.
