Cranbrook, BC – Saskatoon Blades scored 2 3rd period goals in a 3-1 win over the Kootenay ICE in WHL action on Sunday night.
ICE opened the scoring on a 2-on-1 break as Tylan Stephens found a wide open Kevin King in the slot who scored on a wrist shot before the goalie could slide across the crease.
Blades tied the game 1-1 as the puck went of a Josh Nicholls skate in the crease and rolled into the net. It was ruled that wasn’t kicked in.
In the 3rd period Jyri Niemi scored with a snap shot from the top of the circle.
Blades Gaelan Patterson added one into an empty net.
Because of 6 injuries the ICE were 3 players short of a complete line-up. Brayden McNabb (head 1 week), Eric Frere (shoulder day-to-day), Ryan Fox (knee day-to-day), Dustin Sylvester (ankle indefinite), Steele Boomer (concussion indefinite) and Max Reinhart (shoulder day-to-day).
The ICE will start a 3-game road Wednesday in Prince Albert.
