WHL Notes August 17

Red Deer has announced that contract extensions have been signed by Jesse Wallin - VP of Hockey Operations/Head Coach, Bryce Thoma - Assistant Coach, Dave Horning - Trainer, and Terence Robertson - Athletic Therapist. The team also announced that they have hired Chris Neiszner as an Assistant Coach.
As well, the Rebels have acquired the services of Brent Belecki as Goaltending Consultant. Belecki will replace Andy Nowicki, who has chosen to step down from his position with the team to pursue other interests.

Spokane Chiefs have acquired defenseman Bruin McDonald from the Prince George Cougars in exchange for a conditional sixth round draft selection in the 2011 WHL Bantam Draft.
The 18-year-old McDonald has played 107 games in parts of three seasons with the Cougars, including a career high 53 last year when he registered three goals and 10 points. The Coquitlam, BC native was originally a seventh round selection in the 2007 WHL Bantam Draft.
