Kootenay 4 Lethbridge 2 Game #35

Cranbrook, BC – The Kootenay ICE beat the Lethbridge Hurricanes 4-2 in WHL action on Tuesday night.

With the clubs skating 4-on-4 the ICE (22-10-1-2) opened the scoring with defenseman Jagger Dirk alone in the middle slot and scored with a wrist shot high on the glove side.
Lethbridge (14-23-0-1) tied the game late in the period as Russell Maxwell was stopped on a breakaway and Jamal Watson put in the rebound.

Early in the second period the ICE took 2-1 lead on a 3-on-2 break that turned into a 2-on-1 with Brock Montgomery scoring on a one-time shot on a pass from Adam Rossignol.

The ICE took a 3-1 lead as Joe Antilla took a pass from Dylan McKinlay and slapped it through the goalies’ legs.
Elgin Pearce extended his point streak to 3 games with an assist. (4-1-5)
The ICE added insurance as Drew Czerwonka had a partial breakaway and stepped into a slap shot that went through the goalie and laid in the crease behind him and Czerwonka managed to reach the puck and get it into the net.
Jesse Ismond extended his point streak to 6 games with an assist. (1-6-7)
Lethbridge scored a late powerplay goal on a 2-on-1 break and Brody Sutter fired a wrist shot high on the stickside.

John Neibrandt played in his 100th career game.
The ICE will visit Red Deer on Thursday.

ICE Scratches – Spencer Wand (U-17 West), Jaedon Descheneau (U-17 Pacific), Sam Reinhart (U-17 Paciific), Jon Martin (U-17 West), Tanner Faith.
Defenseman Tanner Faith (Sask AAA Midget Notre Dame) and forward Luke Philp (AJHL Canmore) have joined the club while the ICE have 4 players taking part in the U-17 tournament in Windsor, Ontario.
Hurricanes called up 17-year-old Harrison Harper who made his WHL debut but Lethbridge was still 2 skaters short of a complete line-up.
