Prince Albert 7 Kootenay 5 Game #28

Prince Albert, Sask – The Prince Albert Raiders scored 4 3rd period goals in a 7-5 win over the Kootenay ICE in WHL action on Friday night.

The loss ended the ICE winning streak at 6 games and the road winning streak at 7 game.
Mark McNeill led the attack with 3 goals and 2 assists.

For the first time in 7 games the ICE gave up the 1st goal of the game.
The only time they had trailed in a game during their 6-game winning streak was in Prince George.
The last time the ICE trailed after the 1st period was October 18th in Medicine Hat.

In the second period the ICE scored 4 goals in 6 minutes to take a 4-1 lead.
Dylan McKinlay scored on the powerplay on a behind the net feed from Jesse Ismond and scored from in close with a wrist shot high on the glove side.
Levi Cable got his 1st career goal with a backhand shot from the top of the crease that went through the goalies legs.
After Drew Czerwonka came out of the penalty box he set up Max Reinhart on a 3-on-2 break and scored with a wrist shot on the glove side.
The ICE scored 6 seconds into a powerplay as Sam Reinhart found Brock Montgomery at the top of the crease for a redirection.
After the Raiders made it 4-2 the ICE scored 1 second after a powerplay ended with Jagger Dirk’s point shot deflected by Adam Rossignol.
ICE led 5-3 after 2 periods.
The teams combined for 7 goals in the period which is the most in a period in an ICE game this year and also happened in the 2nd period in Kamloops

Raiders sscored 2 goals early in the 3rd period and the ICE changed goalies with Nathan Lieuwen replacing Mackenzie Skapski.
It’s the first time the ICE have changed goalies in a game all season.
Skating 4-on-4 the Raiders took a 6-5 lead on a breakaway by Mark McNeill is the 1st player to score a hattrick against the ICE this season.

Brock Montgomery extended his goal streak to 4 games which ties Max Reinhart and Sam reinhart for the longest goal streak of the season.
Max Reinhart extended his point streak to 8 games.
Sam Reinhart extended his assist/point streak to 7 games, the Franchise Record is 8 games.

Going into the game the combination of the 6 players of the 3rd and 4th lines had Prince Albert with 5 goals (all from Jonas Knutsen) and the ICE with 26 goals. (Benoit 8, Rossignol 5, Montgomery 8, Hurley 1, McKinlay 4)
