Cranbrook, BC – Kootenay ICE Captain Dustin Sylvester had 2 goals and 1 assist in a 5-2 win over the Moose Jaw Warriors in WHL action on Tuesday night.
Warriors opened the scoring as Cody Smuk’s long shot from the blueline was stopped by the goalie but a big rebound was found by Jesse Paradis and scored on the stick side.
ICE tied the game 1-1 on the powerplay as Dustin Sylvester was allowed to get to the middle slot and his low shot went through the screened goalie.
It’s the second time Sylvester has reached the 30-goal mark in his career.
The Warriors regained the lead early in the second period as Jason Bast fed Spencer Edwards with a pass to the crease and he redirected it into the net.
With the clubs playing 4-on-4 Sylvester fed defenseman Ryan Molle in the middle slot and his wrist shot went of the goalies’ blocker and into the net.
The ICE took the lead 3-2 lead as Kevin King from the corner threw a pass to the low slot and Sylvester reached out and deflected the puck high into the net.
In the third period the ICE made it 4-2 as James Martin Martin on a stretch pass go it to Joe Antilla and he went in on the breakaway and scored on a wrist shot high on the glove side.
ICE added insurance late in the game as Matt Fraser created a turnover and came in on a 2-on-1 break and fired a wrist shot on the blocker side.
