Kootenay @ Red Deer Game #71

The Kootenay ICE are in Red Deer tonight.
This is the 8th and final meeting of the year between the clubs, ICE lead the season series 4-3 with each team winning a game in extra time.
ICE beat Red Deer 5-1 on Wednesday.
ICE have clinched 5th place and control their own destiny to finish in 4th.
The Rebels will finish 6th unless they win both game this weekend and Medicine Hat loses both their games.
The ICE could clinch 4th tonight with a win and a Medicine Hat loss.
It’s really shaping up that the ICE will face Medicine Hat in the playoffs.
The only other possibility is the Red Deer winning twice and the Tigers losing twice and then the ICE would play Red Deer in the first round.
The Rebels have won 2 of the 3 meeting between the clubs played in Red Deer.
Tomorrow the ICE will host Edmonton.
Before tomorrow’s game the ICE will hand out their year-end awards.

Thursday, March 11, 2010

ICE Clinch 5th

The Kootenay ICE have clinched 5th place.
If the Rebels win their remaining 2 games and the ICE lose their 2 games in regulation the clubs would be tied.
Since they would be tied in wins and their season series would be tied the tiebreaker would be goals for and against and the ICE would win that tiebreaker.

If the ICE win their remaining 2 games they would get 4th place.

If the ICE and Tigers lost their remaining games in regulation and the Rebels win their games, the ICE would finish 4th, Rebels 5th and the Tigers 6th.

Because of overtimes and shootouts there are many other possibilities.
