Kootenay 5 Red Deer 1 Game #70

Cranbrook, BC – Kootenay ICE defenseman Joey Leach had 4 assists in a 5-1 win over the Red Deer Rebels in WHL action on Wednesday night.

Rebels opened the scoring as Lane Scheidl was allowed to come off the corner boards and was alone in the low slot and scored with a high back hand.

In the second period the ICE scored 2 goals 17 seconds apart.
Kevin King tied the game 1-1 with a wrist shot from the boards the went in far side on the stick side.
Max Reinhart came into the Rebels zone on a 2-on-1 break and fed a wide open Matt Fraser at eh back door and made the score 2-1.
Rebels called their time out after the goal.

ICE made the score 3-1 early in the third period as Brock Montgomery fired a shot that went under the goalies’ arm and into the net.
The Rebels’ pulled their goalie with 2 ½ minutes left and Kevin King would scored from the Rebels’ blueline to make the score 4-1.
Jesse Ismond found a wide open Elgin Pearce in the low slot and tucked it around the fallen goalie to make the score 5-1.

ICE scratches – Luke Paulsen and Brendan Hurley.

The ICE will visit Red Deer on Friday and host Edmonton on Saturday.
