Cranbrook, BC – The Medicine Hat Tigers beat the Kootenay ICE 2-1 in WHL action on Friday night.
Tigers opened the scoring as Tomas Kundratek’s point shot was stopped by the ICE goalie but the rebound found a wide open Joey Frazer who scored on a wrist shot high on the stick side.
ICE tied the game midway through the period as Matt Fraser skated deep in the Tigers zone and before he went behind the net he fed a wide open Jesse Ismond in the slot and his one time wrist shot beat the Tiger goalie on the glove side.
Tigers got the only goal of the second period with clubs skating 4-on-4. Wacey Hamilton got a long wrist shot on net but was free to pick up the rebound and chipped it in for the 2-1 lead.
ICE scratches – Jagger Dirk and Elgin Pearce.
Brock Montgomery returned after missing 9 games to a shoulder injury.
ICE will host Calgary on Saturday.
