Calgary, AB – Garnet Kazuik, Director of Scouting for the Kootenay ICE Hockey Club today announced the club has selected 14 players in the 22nd annual WHL Bantam Draft. The 2011 WHL Bantam Draft was for players born in 1996 and playing in the four Western Provinces and selected regions of the United States. All of the players selected today are at least one year away from playing regularly in the WHL.
“We were able to make good picks considering where we were in the draft order and having no second round pick at all. We were concerned about the depth in the defensemen going into today but feel we fared better than anticipated. We know that our picks still have two to three years to develop and become great players within our organization,” commented Kazuik.
