ICE CHIPS: The KOOTENAY ICE enter this week’s action with a 5-10-0-0 record (3-4-0-0 at home, 2-6-0-0 on the road, 1-0 in overtime, 1-0 in shootouts) and in sixth place in the CENTRAL DIVISION…The ICE will play their next three games at home against EVERETT (October 28), BRANDON (October 30) and SEATTLE (November 1) before traveling to RED DEER (November 6).

FAS GAS VISIT: On Saturday, October 31 from 10:30 – 12:00 pm a number of players will be at both FAS GAS locations greeting customers and pumping gas…Players in attendance will be CASON MACHACEK, CHRISTIAN MAGNUS, DREW CZERWONKA, MAX REINHART, BROCK MONTGOMERY and BRENDAN HURLEY…Be sure to stop in an fill your tank.

SUBWAY CENTRAL DIVISION CHALLENGE CUP: This year KOOTENAY will be facing off against the rest of the CENTRAL DIVISION for a different kind of trophy…The SUBWAY CENTRAL DIVISION CHALLENGE CUP tallies points from head-to-head meetings in the CENTRAL DIVISION and the team with the most points in those head-to-heads at the end of the regular season will be awarded the SUBWAY CENTRAL DIVISION CHALLENGE CUP…Fans can get involved by answering weekly trivia questions to win prizes…To get to the CHALLENGE CUP webpage click on the link at www.kootenayice.net

PEPSI KIDS CLUB: Registration for the PEPSI KIDS CLUB is underway…Kids from five to 12 can sign up to be part of the KIDS CLUB and receive a punch card to attend eight games for only $2.00…The events this year will be bowling with the ICE, skating with the team, and watching a movie with the players…Cost for each kid is $17.00 and forms are available at the Kootenay ICE Office…Registration deadline is Monday, November 2.

FAMILY PACKS: The ICE have FAMILY PACKS on sale for Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday home games during the 2009-2010 season excluding Sunday, December 27…FAMILY PACKS are $45.00 and include two adult tickets, two youth or student tickets, a parking voucher, a game program voucher, and two McDonald Happy Meal vouchers…For more information, or to purchase a FAMILY PACK, call or visit the KOOTENAY ICE Office.

KOOTENAY CHILDREN’S FESTIVAL NIGHT: When KOOTENAY hosts EVERETT on October 28 it will be KOOTENAY CHILDREN’S FESTIVAL Night…Fans will have the opportunity to win prizes via a draw.

HOME DEPOT NIGHT: On Sunday, November 1 when the ICE host SEATTLE it will be HOME DEPOT Night...A few lucky fans will have the chance to test their skills with HOME DEPOT and win prizes…The first 800 people in the door will receive towels.

DID YOU KNOW: BRAYDEN MCNABB, who is tied for fifth for points by a defenceman with 15 (3-12-15), played in his 150th career game on October 24 against MOOSE JAW…DUSTIN SYLVESTER played in his 250th career game on October 23 against PORTLAND…KEVIN KING needs to record one more point to reach 100 in this WHL career.

INJURIES: Goaltender NATHAN LIEUWEN will be out of the ICE line up indefinitely with a concussion…Forwards CHRISTIAN MAGNUS (broken finger) and DREW CZERWONKA (leg laceration) will both be out of the KOOTENAY line up one to two weeks…Defenseman CASON MACHACEK will be out of the ICE line up day to day with a concussion.

ONE YEAR AGO: After 15 games of the 2008-2009 season the ICE were 6-5-1-3, after 16 games 7-5-1-3 and after 17 games 8-5-1-3.
