ICE CHIPS: The KOOTENAY ICE enter this week’s action with a 30-16-1-2 record (16-7-1-1 at home, 14-9-0-1 on the road, 4-1 in overtime, 3-2 in shootouts) and in fifth place in the EASTERN CONFERENCE and eighth place overall in the WHL…The ICE, who had their franchise record 14 game winning streak snapped January 22 in PRINCE ALBERT (old record was 11 games set twice before – January 2 – 29, 2005 and December 28, 2006 – January 20, 2007) are 25-5-1-2 since October 30th…KOOTENAY, who were unbeaten in a franchise record 15 games (14-0-0-1 record) will play five of their next seven games on the road, including six contests against teams from the EAST DIVISION.

HOCKEYVILLE: On Tuesday, January 26th when KOOTENAY hosts the BRANDON WHEAT KINGS HOCKEYVILLE wants to see your jerseys…Fans attending the game are encouraged to wear a jersey to show off their hockey pride…HOCKEYVILLE is also asking that you bring a box of KRAFT DINNER to use as a shaker during the game then after the game put the box in one of the many bins that will be located at the exits…The boxes will be used as a HAITI RELIEF FUNDRAISER in February.

ICE TEAM UP WITH CROHN’S AND COLITIS: The KOOTENAY ICE are teaming up with the CROHN’S AND COLITIS FOUNDATION OF CANADA to raise money for research…On Friday, January 29th when the ICE host PRINCE ALBERT the team will be playing with yellow sticks that will be auctioned off behind Section U during the game…The winning bids will have the opportunity to meet the player and have their picture taken following the game.

HUNGRY FOR LIFE: When KOOTENAY hosts PRINCE ALBERT on Friday, January 29th HUNGRY FOR LIFE for CRANBROOK will be raising money for HAITI RELIEF in the lobby…One hundred percent of the money raised will go to HAITI and will be matched by the GOVERNMENT OF CANADA.

TRAVEL PLUS FAN BUS: The KOOTENAY ICE and TRAVEL PLUS are proud to offer the TRAVEL PLUS FAN BUS to SPOKANE on Saturday, January 30…The cost is $89.00 per person and includes a box lunch, prizes, raffle and a ticket to the game…If you are interested you can sign up at TRAVEL PLUS or by calling 250-417-2777…First come, first serve and everyone is welcome.

FAN CLUB SPAGHETTI FEED: The KOOTENAY ICE FAN CLUB is hosting a SPAGHETTI FEED at the COLUMBO LODGE on Sunday, February 28th…The evening, which starts at 5:00 pm, will include a spaghetti supper served by the KOOTENAY ICE and prizes…Tickets are $25.00 and available at the Fan Club Table on game nights, Kootenay Marine and any Fan Club Member…Deadline to buy tickets is Sunday, February 14th.

DID YOU KNOW: DUSTIN SYLVESTER, who scored his franchise record 12th career shorthanded goal on January 22 against SASKATOON (previous record was 11 held by DUNCAN MILROY), tied a club record for the most assists in one period with four on January 20 against SWIFT CURRENT (TREVOR JOHNSON – September 23, 2000 vs. CALGARY)…SYLVESTER, who is in fifth place in League scoring (27-39-66), scored his 100th WHL career goal on January 16 against the SPOKANE…JAGGER DIRK recorded his first WHL career goal on January 23 against PRINCE ALBERT…MATT FRASER recorded his second career hat trick on January 22 against SASKATOON...STEELE BOOMER recorded his first career hat trick on January 20 against SWIFT CURRENT…Goaltender TODD MATHEWS, who is tied for seventh in the League in save percentage (.909%), broke the franchise record for most consecutive wins in a row with 11 on January 22 against the BLADES (previous record was ten games held by JEFF GLASS – January 7 – 19, 2005) …BRAYDEN MCNABB (13-31-44) is tied for seventh place in the League for points by a defenseman…KEVIN KING, who scored his 50th WHL career goal on January 16 against SPOKANE, needs to play in six more games to reach 250 WHL games played.

SCORING STREAKS: MAX REINHART (7-7-14) has recorded at least a point in his last seven games…JESSE ISMOND (3-6-9) has recorded at least a point in his last six games…MATT FRASER (4-4-8) has recorded at least a point in his last four games.

INJURY: Forward DOMINIK PACOVSKY will be out of the ICE line-up day to day with a broken foot.

ONE YEAR AGO: After 49 games of the 2008-2009 season the ICE were 23-20-2-4, after 50 games 23-21-2-5 and after 51 games 24-21-2-5.
