Kootenay 4 Everett 2 Game #17

Cranbrook, BC – The Kootenay ICE scored 2 goals in the first period and 2 in the third period in a 4-2 win over the Everett Silvertips in WHL action on Friday night.

The ICE (12-3-0-2) opened the scoring on a powerplay as Joe Antilla came in from the left point and stepped into a slapshot that beat the goalie low on the stickside.
Less than 2 minutes later Dylen McKinlay scored on a long slap shot that surprised the goalie high on the glove side.
Sam Reinhart assisted on both goals and it’s his 3rd multiple point game of the season.
Antilla extended his point streak to 4 games.

In the second period the Everett Silvertps (4-12-0-3) Trent Lofthouse took the puck away from an ICE defenseman in the slot and scored his 1st career WHL goal with a forehand deke.

In the third period Everett’s Josh Birkholz missed on a partial breakaway and the ICE went the other way and Eric Benoit scored on a partial break with a wrist shot high on the stick side.
The ICE made it 4-1 on the powerplay as Elgin Pearce pounced on a loose puck in the crease and scored his third powerplay goal of the season.
2 minutes later the Silvertips scored on the powerplay on a backdoor play and completed by Tyler Maxwell.

The ICE have won 5 games in a row and have won 6 home games in a row.
Kootenay is alone in 1st place in the East Conference with 26 points.

The ICE will host Red Deer on Saturday.
