Saskatoon 2 Kootenay 1 Game #21

Cranbrook, BC – Saskatoon goalie Andrey Makarov made 36 saves in a 2-1 win over the Kootenay Ice in WHL action on Sunday night.

The Blades (15-6-0-1) started the game with a long 5-on-3 power-play and scored on their only shot with defenseman Darren Dietz scoring on a one-time slap shot from the point that beat the screened goalie.
The ICE (13-5-1-2) scored late in the period on a 2-man advantage as Max Reinhart skated into the middle slot and fired a wrist shot high on the stick side.

The Blades got a powerplay goal late in the third period with Brent Benson getting a second chance at a rebound and lifted it over the fallen down goalie.

Saskatoon has won 5 games in a row.
The ICE wrap-up a 7-game homestand with a 4-2-1-0 record, with all 3 losses by a 1-goal margin.

The Ice will play the next 9 games on the road starting Saturday in Victoria.
