Edmonton 3 Kootenay 2 OT Game #43

Edmonton, Alb – Edmonton Oil Kings beat the Kootenay ICE 3-2 in overtime in WHL action on Saturday night.

The Oil Kings (29-10-1-4) scored the only goal of the first period on the power play as T.J. Foster drove the net and Tyler Maxwell put in the rebound.
ICE Captain Drew Czerwonka left the game in the period and didn’t return.

In the second period the ICE (25-13-2-3) tied the game on 3-on-0 break with a passing play from Joe Antilla to Max Reinhart to Sam Reinhart who scored his 13th of the season.
Reinhart now has 34 points which ties Jarret Stoll and Nigel Dawes for the most points by an ICE 16-year-old forward. Defenseman Steve McCarthy had 40 points as a 16-year old.

Early in the third period Jagger Dirk gave the ICE a 2-1 lead by finding a loose puck in the crease behind the goalie and poked it in.
Jesse Ismond extended his point streak to 3 games (0-3-3)
Dirk has 3 goals and 9 points in the 9 games since the X-mas break.
Edmonton tied the game midway through the period as Henrik Samuelsson got his 1st WHL goal in his 2nd game.

Jordan Peddle scored the winner on a behind the net fed by Rhett Rachinski.

The ICE will visit Regina on Wednesday.
