Prince Albert 7 Kootenay 6 SO Game #49

Cranbrook, BC – Kootenay ICE forward Sam Reinhart had 3 goals and 2 assists in a 7-6 shootout loss to the Prince Albert Raiders in WHL action on Friday night.

The Raiders (16-30-1-2) opened the scoring in the first period off a face-off win in the ICE zone and defenseman Riley Guenther scored his 1st career goal with a point shot that was deflected into the net off the cross bar.

The teams combined for 9 goals in the second period with Sam Reinhart tying a franchise record with 3 goals and 4 points in a period.
The ICE (27-15-3-4) tied the game on the first shift of the second period on a wrap around from Brock Montgomery.
The Raiders scored 3 goals in a span of 1:35 with goals from Mark McNeill, Anthony Bardaro, Carson Perreaux (1st career goal).
The ICE scored on deflection by Sam Reinhart on a waist high shot from the point by John Neibrandt.
The Ice scored a powerplay goal as Dylan McKinlay shot from the shot was stopped but the puck went into the air and landed on the back of the goalie and rolled into the net.
Sam Reinhart tied the game 4-4 after receiving a pass from Levi Cable.
The Raiders regained the lead on a powerplay goal by Mike Winther.
The ICE changed goalies with MacKenzie Skapski replacing Nathan Lieuwen.
Before the end of the period Sam Reinhart completed his 1st career hat-trick on a powerplay with a one-time shot.

In the third period the ICE got their first lead on a powerplay rebound by Dylan McKinlay.
Sam Reinhart added an assist for his 1st career 5 point game. He has 3 4-point games.

The ICE went to overtime for the 5th time this month.
It's the first time in their history the ICE and Raiders went to a shootout against each other.
