Kootenay 3 Moose Jaw 2 SO Game #47

Moose Jaw, Sask – The Kootenay ICE extended their winning streak to 4 games with a 3-2 overtime shootout win over the Moose Jaw Warriors in WHL action on Saturday night.

The Warriors (14-24-3-6) scored the only goal of the first period off a face-of win and defenseman Kendall McFaull beat the goalie with a shot high on the glove side.
It’s the 8th game in a row where the ICE have trailed.

The ICE (21-25-1-0) Jon Martin received a major penalty for charging early in the second period.
While shorthanded Sam Reinhart scored on a partial breakaway and while falling down he lifted the puck over the goalies’ glove hand.
On the continuing powerplay Kendall McFaull scored his 2nd of the game.

Midway through the third period the ICE tied the game on goal mouth scramble with Jaedon Deschenau getting the goal.

The ICE played their 3rd overtime game this week.
The ICE won the shootout 1-0 in 10 rounds with the lone goal from Zach McPhee and 10 saves by Mackenzie Skapski who has stopped 24 of 25 shootout shots this season.
The ICE have had shootouts of 6 and 7 rounds this season and the 10 rounds is the longest in team history.

Before this week the ICE had won 4 road games all season and they went 4-for-4 this week in Saskatchewan.

Sam Reinhart (10 games), Jaedon Descheneau (10 games) extended their point streaks.
Going into the game Mackenzie Skapski stats since December 28th were 11 GP 9-2-0-0 2.17 .931%

The ICE will host Medicine Hat on Wednesday.
