Kootenay 4 Saskatoon 3 SO Game #44

Saskatoon, Sask – The Kootenay ICE beat the Saskatoon Blades 4-3 in an overtime shootout in WHL action on Tuesday night.

The Blades (21-20-0-2) opened the scoring on a 2-on-1 break with Matt Revel scoring after receiving a pass from Josh Nicholls.
The ICE (18-25-1-0), who didn’t have a powerplay in their last game, tied the game won the powerplay with Sam Reinhart notching his 20th of the season and 50th of his career.
He is the 27th to reach the milestone in Franchise history.
In his 1st game with the ICE defenseman Landon Peel earned an assist on the goal.
2 minutes later the Blades scored on the powerplay with a point shot from Dalton Thrower.

Late in the second period the ICE tied the game a deflection through the goalies legs by Jordyn Boyd on a point shot from Jagger Dirk.
With 11 seconds left in the period the ICE took a 3-2 lead with Luke Philp slapping a shot high on the glove side.

In the third period the Blades Michael Ferland tied the game with a breakaway goal.

The ICE won the shootout 2-1 in 7 rounds on goals by Levi Cable and Collin Shirley.
MacKenzie Skapski sipped 6 of 7 shots and has turned away 14 of 15 shootout shots this season.

Sam Reinhart (7 games), Jaedon Descheneau (7 games) and Luke Phil (3 games) extended their point streaks.
Jon Martin played in his 100th career game.
This was the 4th and final meeting of the season between the clubs.
The ICE have 9 games left against teams from the East Division.
Saskatoon has 7 games left with Moose Jaw and 6 against Brandon.

The ICE will visit Prince Albert on Wednesday.
