Moose Jaw, Sask – The Moose Jaw Warriors scored a powerplay goal with under 1 second left in in overtime to beat the Kootenay ICE 3-2 in WHL action on Friday night.
The Warriors (15-25-3-6) scored early in the second period on a 3-on-1 break with Carter Hansen beating the goalie high on the glove side.
The ICE (22-25-2-0) tied the game late in the period on the powerplay with Collin Shirley scoring from behind the net with a forehand wraparound.
Less than 3 minutes later the ICE took a 2-1 lead on behind the net forehand wraparound from Sam Reinhart.
Early in the third period the Warriors tied the game 2-2 as Sam Fioretti scored his team leading 23rd.
The Warriors ended a 10 game losing streak with under 1 second left in overtime with a powerplay goal from Sam Fioretti.
It’s the 10th straight game that the ICE have trailed and have given up the first goal of the game 7 games in a row.
Sam Reinhart (12 games) and Jaedon Descheneau (12 games) extended his point streaks.
Jaedon Descheneau played in his 100th career game.
Mackenzie Skapski made his 15th consecutive start and 19th straight game with an appearance.
The ICE will visit Regina on Saturday.
