Red Deer 6 Kootenay 2 Game #52

Red Deer, Alb – The Red Deer Rebels scored 3 third period goals on a 6-2 win over the Kootenay ICE in WHL action on Thursday night.

The Rebels (27-20-4-2) opened the scoring in the first period with 2 goals 1:36 apart with goals from Turner Elson and Matt Bellerive.
ICE (23-27-2-0) scored late in the period with Brock Montgomery firing a shot high on the glove side.

Midway through the second period Sam Reinhart scored by coming out from behind the net and banking it off the back of the goalie into the net.
In the final minute Turner Elson got his second of game off a turnover deep in the ICE zone.
Going into the game the Rebels were 15-0-0-0 when leading after two periods.

The Rebels made it 4-2 on a 3-on-2 break with Ryse Dieno finishing off the play and then 5-2 on a 2-on-1 with David Volek getting the goal.
The Rebels made it 6-2 with a poweplay goal from Rhyse Dieno.

The ICE went 11-3-1-0 in January.
The last time the ICE lost 2 games in a row was December 28th when they had a 4-game losing streak.
Sam Reinhart (15 games) extended his point streak.
The ICE will host Lethbridge on Saturday.
