Kootenay vs Portland Exhibition Game #2

Kennewick, Wash – Portland Winterhawks Ty Rattie had 1 goal and 3 assists in a 5-2 win over the Kootenay ICE in WHL preseason action on Friday night.

Both ICE goals came on the power-play from Spencer Wand and Eric Benoit, while Wyatt Hoflin made 47 saves.

The ICE trailed 2-0 late in the first period when Spencer Wand scored a powerplay goal on the rush with a wrist shot that beat the goalie on the glove side.

At one point during the 2nd period the ICE were outshot 15-2 with their 2 shots on a 3-on-1 (Sam Reinhart shot) and a breakaway (Eric Benoit).
Also that period Wyatt Hoflin made 2 amazing saves in turning away Derrick Pouliot and Nic Petan.
ICE tied the game 2-2 on a powerplay deflection by Eric Benoit off a point shot by Matthew Thomas.
Portland added a late 2nd period goal and 2 more in the 3rd period for the win.

The ICE will play their third game in 3 days as they play Everett tomorrow afternoon.
