Brandon 4 Kootenay 3 OT

Cranbrook, BC – Brandon forward Matt Calvert scored 2 goals including the game winner in a 4-3 overtime win over the Kootenay ICE in WHL Playoff action on Tuesday night.

Wheat Kings opened the scoring as Brayden Schenn chipped in the puck after the original point shot missed the net and found a free puck behind the ICE goaltender.
ICE tied the game 1-1 as Brayden McNabb’s point shot was deflected by Steele Boomer and beat the screened goalie.
ICE took a 2-1 lead on a power-play as Kevin King was on a partial break and scored on a wrist shot high on the glove side.
Wheat Kings tied it 2-2 as Matt Calvert was free on a partial breakaway as scored on a low wrist shot.
Wheat Kings made it 3-2 late in the 2nd period as Matt Lowry’s long shot beat the goalie off his blocker arm.
ICE tied the game 3-3 on a power-play as Tylan Stephens came on a 2-on-1 break and his wrist shot went in on the blocker side.
Calvert got the game winner on a 2-on-1 break and fired a perfect wrist shot high on the glove side.

Game 4 is Wednesday night in Cranbrook.
