Edmonton 3 Kootenay 1 Game #64

Cranbrook, BC – The Edmonton Oil Kings scored 2 early third period goals on their way to a 3-1 win over the Kootenay ICE in WHL action on Wednesday night.

After a scoreless first period the Oil Kings (42-15-3-4) scored in the second period with TJ Foster stepped into a slap shot that beat the goalie on the glove side.

Early in the third period the Oil Kings made it 2-0 with Michael St. Croix finding Tyler Maxwell open in the slot for a one-time goal.
Edmonton made it 3-0 as they won another battle behind the ICE net and Jordan was open in the low slot for a one-time goal.
The ICE (34-22-4-4) scored their lone goal on a 2-man advantage with a slap shot from Max Reinhart.

Edmonton has won all 5 meetings against the ICE this year with one more meeting in 2 weeks.
The ICE finished the month with a 7-7-0-0 record.

The ICE will host Calgary on Saturday.

ICE Scratches – Luke Paulsen (2nd game, upper body, day-to-day), Drew Czerwonka (6th game, lower body, 3-5 weeks).
Luke Philp will join the club this weekend and will be available to play in 7 of the clubs’ last 8 regular season games. Philp is from Alberta and they have a different Spring Break than the schools in BC so he will not be available for one of the mid-week games in March.
