Red Deer 2 Kootenay 0 Game #54

Cranbrook, BC – Red Deer Rebels Deven Dubyk made 23 saves in a 2-0 win over the Kootenay ICE in WHL action on Friday night.

The Rebels (25-24-1-4) opened the scoring in the first period on a powerplay faceoff win in the ICE zone and Alex Petrovic’s point shot defelected off on ICE player into the net.
In the 8 meetings between the clubs the Rebels scored the 1st goal of the game 6 times.

In the second period the Rebels made it 2-0 on a 2-on-1 break with a Tyson Ness fed to Brooks Maxwell for a redirection goal.

Midway through the third period Rebels’ defenseman Alex Petrovic left the game with an injury and didn’t return.

It’s the second time the ICE (29-17-4-4) have been shutout this season.

This was the 8th and final meeting of the season between the clubs.
The ICE will host Saskatoon on Saturday.

Luke Paulsen returned after missing 17 games.
Red Deer was 2 skaters short of a complete line-up.
