Kootenay 5 Saskatoon 2 Game #55

Cranbrook, BC – Kootenay ICE Captain Drew Czerwonka scored 2 goals in the second period in a 5-2 win in WHL action on Saturday night.

The ICE (30-17-4-4) scored on the first shift of the game as Dylen McKinlay had a partial breakaway coming down the left wing and fired a wrist shot high on the glove side.
The Blades (34-21-0-1) tied the game with the clubs skating 4-on-4 and Darren Dietz was the trailer on an odd-man rush and scored with a wrist shot that went under the goalies arm into the net.
The ICE regained the lead on the powerplay as Joey Leach’s point shot was deflected by Brock Montgomery who has tied Elgin Pearce for the team lead in PPG with 8.
The Blades tied the game on the powerplay as defenseman Dalton Thrower went to the slot to bang in a rebound.

In the second period the ICE took a 3-2 lead with Drew Czerwonka near the net to backhand a rebound off a Max Reinhart shot.
The ICE made it 4-2 as Brock Montgomery won the race for the puck in the zone and dropped the puck to Eric Benoit who scored with a high wrist shot.
The ICE scored another powerplay goal as Drew Czerwonka got to the puck behind the net and banked it off the diving goalie into the net.

ICE forward Jon Martin was awarded a penalty shot at 2:57 of the third period and his shot went over net.

The ICE will visit Calgary on Sunday.

JERSEY OFF THE BACK RAISES OVER $8000
Cranbrook, BC -- The Kootenay ICE Hockey Club is pleased to announce that the Jersey off the Back raised $8,130 for the Kootenay ICE Education Fund.
On Saturday, February 11th when the ICE hosted the Saskatoon Blades, the game worn RBK black jerseys were auctioned off in a silent auction. Forward Sam Reinhart's game worn jersey brought in the most money at $1005.
The jersey winners will receive their jerseys at the conclusion of 2012 playoff season. The Kootenay ICE would like to thank all the fans for their support.
