ICE CHIPS: The KOOTENAY ICE enter this week’s action with a 17-7-0-2 record (9-3-0-1 at home, 8-4-0-1 on the road, 0-0 in overtime, 2-2 in shootouts) and in second place in the CENTRAL DIVISION and fourth in the WHL…KOOTENAY is ranked number nine in the BMO CHL MASTERCARD TOP 10 RANKINGS for the week of November 22…The ICE will play seven of their ten games on the road before breaking for Christmas (December 19 – 27).

A&W MITTEN AND TOQUE TOSS: When the ICE host the MEDICINE HAT TIGERS on December 4 it will be the A&W MITTEN AND TOQUE TOSS Night…This season there is a large demand for winter wear so fans are encouraged to bring new, unused winter wear and clothing to the game to launch onto the ice when KOOTENAY scores their first goal…The winter wear collected at this game will be distributed to the Salvation Army, the Angel Tree and various other community organizations.
DID YOU KNOW: The ICE tied a franchise record for most shorthanded goals in a game with three against PRINCE ALBERT on November 20 (in LETHBRIDGE – October 30, 1998, at home to LETHBRIDGE – December 29, 2002)…The ICE are 11-0-0-0 when leading after the second period, 2-6-0-1 when losing and 4-1-0-1 when tied…KOOTENAY is 10-1-0-1 when they score the first goal of the game and 7-6-0-1 when their opponent scores first…The ICE are 13-3-0-1 when outshooting their opponent, 3-4-0-1 when being outshot and 1-0-0-0 when shots are tied…NATHAN LIEUWEN is third in the WHL in goals against average (2.48)…MAX REINHART needs to record five more points to reach 100 in his WHL career…KEVIN KING has played in 292 games with the ICE…MATT FRASER has scored nine game winning goals in his WHL career…JOHN NEIBRANDT recorded his first WHL career point with an assist on November 27 against SEATTLE…BRAYDEN MCNABB has been invited to CANADA’S NATIONAL JUNIOR TEAM SELECTION CAMP which begins in Toronto on December 15th.
INJURIES / TRANSACTION: Defenseman HAYDEN RINTOUL and Forward ERIK BENOIT will both be out of the ICE line up two to three weeks with knee injuries…KOOTENAY has called up Forward SAM REINHART (November 6, 1995) of the VANCOUVER NW GIANTS – BCMML (16-12-20-32-4) for the US DIVISION road trip.
ONE YEAR AGO: After 26 games of the 2009-2010 season the ICE were 11-13-1-1, after 27 games 12-13-1-1 and 28 games 13-13-1-1.
