ICE CHIPS: The KOOTENAY ICE enter this week’s action with a 13-13-1-1 record (7-6-1-1 at home, 6-7-0-0 on the road, 4-1 in overtime, 2-1 in shootouts) and in third place in the CENTRAL DIVISION…KOOTENAY was 7-2-1-1 in November and have won the first two games of their five game BC DIVISION road trip…The ICE will continue their road trip with three games this week (CHILLIWACK – December 1, VANCOUVER – December 2, PRINCE GEORGE – December 4) before returning home to host EDMONTON (December 9).

A&W TEDDY BEAR / MITTEN TOSS: When the ICE host the CALGARY HITMEN on December 11 it will be the annual A & W TEDDY BEAR / MITTEN TOSS Night…Fans are encouraged to bring new, unused stuffed bears (due to distribution in health care facilities) and winter clothing to the game that will be tossed on to the ice when KOOTENAY scores their first goal…Bears and winter clothing collected at this game will be distributed to the Salvation Army, the Angel Tree and various other community organizations.
SYLVESTER NAMED WHL BOSTON PIZZA PLAYER OF THE WEEK: DUSTIN SYLVESTER, who recorded his 100th WHL career assist against KELOWNA on November 28, has been named the WHL BOSTON PIZZA PLAYER OF THE WEEK (November 23 – 29) by recording six point s in two games (3-3-6)…This is the third time in his five year career that he was won a WHL weekly or monthly award, including the HUSKY PLAYER OF THE MONTH (November 2008) and BOSTON PIZZA PLAYER OF THE WEEK (March 17 – 23, 2008)…SYLVESTER also tied a franchise record for career short handed goals with 11 against LETHBRIDGE on November 15 (DUNCAN MILROY – 11).
DID YOU KNOW: The ICE are 9-4-1-1 when they score first and 4-9-0-0 when their opponent scores first…KOOTENAY is 5-0-0-1 when leading after the second period, 3-12-1-0 when losing and 5-1-0-0 when tied...The ICE are 9-5-0-0 when outshooting their opponent, 3-8-1-1 when outshot and 1-0-0-0 when the shots are tied…MATT FRASER needs to play in two more games to reach 150 games played with the ICE…JESSE ISMOND needs to play five more games to reach 100 WHL career games played.
INJURIES: Defenseman JAMES MARTIN will be out of the KOOTENAY line up indefinitely with a concussion…Forward DOMINIK PACOVSKY will be out of the ICE line up three to five weeks with a broken foot…Forward DREW CZERWONKA (concussion) and Defenseman RYAN MOLLE (jaw) will both be out of the KOOTENAY line up day to day.
ONE YEAR AGO: After 28 games of the 2008-2009 season the ICE were 14-9-2-3, after 29 games 15-9-2-3 and after 30 games 15-10-2-3.
