Not in Line-up – Todd Mathews, Nathan Lieuwen, Ryan Bloom (back), Brendan Hurley (concussion), plus 8 players at NHL camps.

Kennewick, Wash – The ICE preseason record dropped to 0-2 with a 6-2 loss to Portland.

The game started at 11am and for the most part it wasn’t a very physical game and lacked any real intensity. Lots of stick checking, but that allowed both teams to stickhandle and make nice plays.

The big difference could be the fact it was the ICE 2nd preseason game and the 6th for Portland. The Winterhawks, and the Thunderbirds yesterday, seem more game ready.

Jesse Ismond scored the 1st ICE goal on a 2nd period power-play with a wrist shot from the top of the circle that beat the screened goalie.

On the 3rd period power-play Adam Rossignol from the corner fed a wide open Colby Cave in front of the net who backhanded it underneath the sprawling goalie.

Portland rookie Sven Bartschi (7th overall pick in the Import Draft from Switzerland) scored 4 goals and added 1 assist. Bartschi and Ty Rattie were dominant most of the game.

The ICE have given up 3 shorthanded goals in 2 games played.

Mackenzie Skapski started in net for the ICE and 21 saves on 24 shots. Brett Teskey played the second half of the game and made 15 saves on 18 shots.

ICE will play against Tri City on Sunday.
