ICE will host the 5-0 Swift Current Broncos on Saturday.
Broncos netminder Travis Yonkman is out with a shoulder injury so Mark Guggenberger should be between the pipes. He played last year against the ICE at the Rec-Plex while with Portland. Keegan Dansereau, Matt Tassone, Cody Eakin and Eric Doyle are off to great starts.
Matt Fraser will not play due to his shoulder injury, but will return during next week's road trip.
Drew Czerwonka will play his 1st game of the regular season after sitting out a 7-game suspension from last year in the Saskatchewan AAA Midget League.
Sunday they host Kris Lazaruk & the Kelowna Rockets. Kelowna did not play a game in Cranbrook last year. All 5 BC Division teams will make 1 appearance at the Rec-Plex this season. Defenseman Luke Schenn is expected to start the season with Toronto Maple Leafs and according to one report he has been their 3rd or 4th best defenseman in the preseason. Colin Long is back after finishing 2nd in league scoring last year. Jamie Benn is another great offensive player to watch. Defensmen Tyler Myers, Collin Bowman (Drayson's brother) and Tyson Barrie are their key guys on the blueline.
Including the playoffs, Lazaruk played 118 career games with the ICE. He is ranked 4th in career wins, 5th GAA, 4th save % and tied for 4th with 4 carer shutouts.
