ICE CHIPS: The KOOTENAY ICE enter this week’s action with a 15-14-1-1 record (7-6-1-1 at home, 8-8-0-0 on the road, 4-1 in overtime, 2-1 in shootouts) and in third place in the CENTRAL DIVISION and 14th in the WHL…KOOTENAY was 4-1-0-0 on their BC DIVISION road trip (November 27 – December 4)…The ICE will play four of their next six games at home before breaking for Christmas (December 20 – 26).

NEW YEARS EVE WITH THE ICE: Celebrate NEW YEARS EVE with the KOOTENAY ICE…Following the game against REGINA on December 31st the Hockey Club will be hosting a NEW YEARS EVE party at the HERITAGE INN...Tickets are $75.00 per person or $125.00 per couple and will include dinner, DJ, dance, silent auction and door prizes…You will have the chance to win an autographed JARRETT STOLL Los Angeles King jerseys, NIGEL DAWES Calgary Flames jersey and much more…Tickets are available at the KOOTENAY ICE OFFICE with all the monies raised going to the EDUCATION FUND.

FAMILY PACKS: The ICE have FAMILY PACKS on sale for Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday home games during the 2009-2010 season excluding Sunday, December 27…FAMILY PACKS are $45.00 and include two adult tickets, two youth or student tickets, a parking voucher, a game program voucher, and two McDonald Happy Meal vouchers…For more information, or to purchase a FAMILY PACK, call or visit the KOOTENAY ICE Office.

DANONE AND FOOD BANK NIGHT: When KOOTENAY hosts the EDMONTON OIL KINGS on December 9 it will be DANONE and FOOD BANK NIGHT…Fans in attendance are asked to bring non-perishable food items to donate to the CRANBROOK or KIMBERLEY FOOD BANKS…You will also have the chance to win prizes from DANONE.

A&W TEDDY BEAR / MITTEN TOSS: When the ICE host the CALGARY HITMEN on December 11 it will be the annual A & W TEDDY BEAR / MITTEN TOSS Night…Fans are encouraged to bring new, unused stuffed bears (due to distribution in health care facilities) and winter clothing to the game that will be tossed on to the ice when KOOTENAY scores their first goal…Bears and winter clothing collected at this game will be distributed to the Salvation Army, the Angel Tree and various other community organizations.

DID YOU KNOW: The ICE are 11-5-1-1 when they score first and 4-9-0-0 when their opponent scores first…KOOTENAY is 7-0-0-1 when leading after the second period, 3-12-1-0 when losing and 5-2-0-0 when tied...The ICE are 10-6-0-0 when outshooting their opponent, 3-8-1-1 when outshot and 2-0-0-0 when the shots are tied…ELGIN PEARCE recorded his first two career WHL goals against CHILLIWACK on December 1…MATT FRASER played in his 150th game with the ICE against VANCOUVER on December 2…JESSE ISMOND needs to play two more games to reach 100 WHL career games played.

INJURIES / TRANSACTIONS: Forward DOMINIK PACOVSKY will be out of the ICE line up two to four weeks with a broken foot…Forward DREW CZERWONKA will be out of the KOOTENAY line up day to day with a concussion…The ICE have added Defenseman JAGGER DIRK (May 4, 1993) to their line up…KOOTENAY has traded Defenseman CASON MACHACEK to LETHBRIDGE in exchange for a fourth round pick in the 2011 WHL BANTAM DRAFT.

ONE YEAR AGO: After 31 games of the 2008-2009 season the ICE were 16-10-2-3, after 32 games 16-11-2-3 and after 33 games 16-12-2-3.
