ICE CHIPS: The KOOTENAY ICE enter this week’s action with a 16-15-1-2 record (8-7-1-1 at home, 8-8-0-1 on the road, 4-1 in overtime, 2-2 in shootouts) and in third place in the CENTRAL DIVISION and tied for 14th place overall… The ICE will play six of their next seven games at home…KOOTENAY will conclude their first half of the 2009-2010 schedule with three games this week (two at home, one on the road)…The ICE will host CALGARY (December 27) following the Christmas Break.

NEW YEARS EVE WITH THE ICE: Celebrate NEW YEARS EVE with the KOOTENAY ICE…Following the game against REGINA on December 31st the Hockey Club will be hosting a NEW YEARS EVE party at the HERITAGE INN...Tickets are $75.00 per person or $125.00 per couple and will include dinner, DJ, dance, silent auction and door prizes…You will have the chance to win a weekend gateway to see the VANCOUVER CANUCKS including accommodation from MOLSON and much more…Tickets are available at the KOOTENAY ICE OFFICE with all the monies raised going to the EDUCATION FUND.

SUBWAY CENTRAL DIVISION CHALLENGE CUP: This year KOOTENAY will be facing off against the rest of the CENTRAL DIVISION for a different kind of trophy…The SUBWAY CENTRAL DIVISION CHALLENGE CUP tallies points from head-to-head meetings in the CENTRAL DIVISION and the team with the most points in those head-to-heads at the end of the regular season will be awarded the SUBWAY CENTRAL DIVISION CHALLENGE CUP…Fans can get involved by answering weekly trivia questions to win prizes…To get to the CHALLENGE CUP webpage click on the link at www.kootenayice.net

DID YOU KNOW: KOOTENAY is 19th in the WHL in overall power play (16.5%)…The ICE are 11th in the League in overall penalty killing (78.6%).…TODD MATHEWS is tied for ninth in the League in save percentage (.908%)…JESSE ISMOND played his 100th WHL career game against CALGARY on December 11…DUSTIN SYLVESTER needs five more points to reach 200 in his WHL career (91-104-195)…HAYDEN RINTOUL needs to play in one more game to reach 100 WHL career games played…MAX REINHART needs to play in four more games to reach 100 WHL career games played.

INJURY: Forward DOMINIK PACOVSKY will be out of the ICE line up one to three weeks with a broken foot…KOOTENAY has lost 90 man games to injuries so far this season.

ONE YEAR AGO: After 34 games of the 2008-2009 season the ICE were 16-13-2-3, after 35 games 17-13-2-3 and after 36 games 17-14-2-3.
